Space Zone

Space Zone brings our Universe down to earth.

Space Zone brings our Universe down to earth, exploring the impact space technology has on our everyday lives and how the future of space exploration is being shaped right here in the North East.

Highlights include:

  • Launch your own rocket.

  • Climb inside a mock-up model of part of the International Space Station.

  • Operate a Mars rover from mission control.

  • Watch shows on a digital globe displaying Earth, Moon and planetary satellite imagery.

  • Touch a genuine Moon rock.

Schools visiting the science centre will be guaranteed time in the Space Zone. We have space-related workshops (see below) for every key stage that complement the area.

Life offers a range of educational workshops, contact our bookings line on (0191) 243 8223 for more information. Find out what else is on in the Science Centre >
